Corona virus threatens to push one million people below the poverty line in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: One crore people in Pakistan are feared to fall below the poverty line due to Corona. According to the Planning Commission, the poverty rate was estimated at Rs 3,250 per month.According to the details, the problems facing the federal government and poverty are increasing rapidly. The economic survey has expressed the fear that 10 million people in the country will fall below the poverty line.

According to the survey, the number of people living below the poverty line could increase from 50 million to 60 million. According to the Planning Commission, the poverty line was estimated at Rs 3,250 per month.According to the Economic Survey, 24.3 per cent of the country’s population is living below the poverty line and the number could rise to 29 to 33 per cent due to corona, while partial lockdown could put 12.6 million people out of work.
